Why are they needed? Properly organized internal communications increase the efficiency of business processes. And all thanks to the fact that individual employees and entire departments begin to act in a coordinated manner, at least without interfering with each other's work. Although ideally, synergy should arise, when the whole is greater than just the sum of its parts.

What to pay attention to? Formation of a single information space is a rather complicated process, not excluding errors. You need to be extremely careful. After all, certain shortcomings such as stratification of communication channels, incorrect choice of communication tools or insufficient frequency of communication can cause serious damage to the company.

The concept of internal communications
By the beginning of the 2000s, the heads of Russian companies began to increasingly pay attention to the problems of information transfer within the work collective, in connection with which the concept of "intra-corporate/internal communications" appeared. Later, this term acquired a specific description that reveals its essence.

Internal communications are the entire set of communication tools, methods and channels through which information is transmitted within a stable group in any direction: from top to bottom, from bottom to top, horizontally.

Internal communications serve as a means for organizing a full-scale, high-quality process of information exchange within a company. Large enterprises form a special division responsible for this important area and control the efficiency of communication channels, the development and implementation of communication campaigns, as well as the “packaging of meanings” for them.

The main task set before the Internal Communications Service is to build an effective information system that can ensure high-quality transmission of key messages between divisions, departments and employees of the company.

In order of importance, the customers of the internal communications department in the organization are the company owner and top management (group of managers); the management of business units, including the HR service; managers responsible for individual projects. With their direct participation, the agenda is drawn up, the topics of internal communications campaigns are determined, and key messages are formulated.

It is important to understand that the functions of effective internal communications are much broader than broadcasting a flow of information: HR messages, motivational messages, company news and holiday greetings.
