Freedom fighters will receive 5 festival allowances a year - AKM Mozammel Haque

Freedom Fighter Affairs Minister Bir Muktijoddha A. K. M. Mozammel Haque MP said that freedom fighters will now receive 5 festival allowances a year. In addition to two Eid bonuses, freedom fighters will be given one festival bonus each on the occasion of Bengali New Year, Great Victory Day and Great Independence Day. He said that a house will be built for each indigent freedom fighter at a cost of 15 to 18 lakh taka. The government has already taken over all the medical expenses of the freedom fighters.

The Freedom Fighters Affairs Minister was delivering the opening speech as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Upazila Freedom Fighters Complex building built in Nakla Municipality at a cost of about 2 crore taka at 11 am on Friday. At the time, he also said that during the Pakistan period, this country was a country with a food deficit of c level contact list 2.1 million tons. Now, the Awami League government has overcome this and has transformed Bangladesh into a self-sufficient country in food. He also said that Bangladesh has now evolved from a low-income country to a middle-income country. A new era has been started with the launch of Bangabandhu Satellite 1. He said that those who want to give power to unelected people by overthrowing the elected government are the enemies of the country and the countrymen should be careful of this.

The Minister for Freedom Fighters Affairs also said that the government has decided to include the history of freedom fighters as well as the barbaric events of the Pakistani invaders in the curriculum. For this purpose, it has been decided to have 100 marks on freedom fighters in the BCS exam. In this, 50 marks will be on the 24-year history of torture during the Pakistan period and 50 marks on the 9-month history of freedom fighters.

In the inaugural meeting chaired by Upazila Executive Officer Sultana Razia, Nakla-Nalitabari MP Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, as the main speaker, said that after the coup, Ziaur Rahman made various attempts to erase the memory of the freedom fighters. As part of this, he built a children's park at the place where the Pakistani army surrendered. Once upon a time, the freedom fighters were afraid to introduce themselves. But now a liberation war-friendly government is in power. Therefore, the freedom fighters now feel proud to introduce themselves.

Among others, Sherpur Deputy Commissioner Anar Koli Mahbub, Superintendent of Police Kazi Ashraful Azim, District Freedom Fighter Commander Nurul Islam Hero, Nakla Upazila Chairman Mahbubul Alam, Nakla Municipality Mayor Hafizur Rahman, Upazila Awami League President Freedom Fighter Mostafizur Rahman, General Secretary Freedom Fighter Shafiqul Islam Jinnah and former Freedom Fighter Commander Abul Munsur were present at the inaugural ceremony.
