Google’s SGE will revolutionize SEO for sites and apps that rely on organic traffic and search as their primary source of acquisition. Google’s new generative search experience (SGE), will deliver AI-powered answers and promises to be a game-changer.
“Businesses that rely on organic search should carefully monitor the evolution of SGE. Google’s AI summaries will impact Google search results or SERPs. It is expected that in most niches, AI-generated summaries will appear at the top of more than 80% of search results pages,” notes Boris Fernandois, Head of UX and Metrics at Fusiona.
In this article we tell you what SGE is, what stage it is in, its main characteristics and how you should prepare your company to face this paradigm shift in the search business.
What is SGE Google
Search Generative Experience (SGE) integrates advanced artificial intelligence capabilities with traditional Google search engine results, offering an improved and more intuitive interface.
SGE was first announced at the Google I/O conference on May 10, 2023, and has recently been officially launched as AI Overviews. It is designed to bring artificial intelligence to the Google search area and uses the Pathways Language Model (PaLM2) (Large Language Model).
“In general, Google search has so far been based on slovenia whatsapp lead crawlers that index websites and algorithms that classify content. SGE adds to that base the use of artificial intelligence language models that are trained with a large amount of data to infer contextual answers to queries, instead of simply offering indexed pages,” adds Boris Fernandois,
“I feel that SGE’s goal is to transform search as we know it, moving from a list of blue links to a dialogue with users. The goal is for search results to be more conversational and go beyond keywords, with the aim of understanding contexts,” adds Kathleen Roldán, a journalist specializing in SEO at Fusiona.
Is SGE available in Chile?
Google's Generative Search Experience (GSE) is now available in Chile , but partially. What this means is that users can check if they have access to this new functionality through Search Labs in the Chrome browser for desktop computers and soon in the Google app for Android and iOS devices.
To use SGE, you can visit Search Labs and enable the feature from there. If it doesn't allow you to do so, you should be patient and keep an eye out for updates to the search engine that should soon allow you to start testing this new search experience.
Notwithstanding the above, we invite you to continue reading to get a panoramic view of how Search Generative Experience will change things in the search business.
This is how SGE will change the search
Sge Overview Sge Google Will Change The Future Of Search
This is what SGE looks like in search results.
Until now, to perform a specific search on Google, you would have to ask several questions to obtain complete information on a topic, for example:
-What surfboard is recommended for beginners?
-What beach is recommended to learn to surf?
With SGE, questions will have a more conversational tone. For example, you could ask:
-“What items and accessories should I consider when starting to surf?” and instead of simply receiving a list of relevant web pages, SGE will generate a personalized response that synthesizes details from multiple sources to fully address what you are asking.
How will SGE affect SEO?
AI-generated summaries are expected to appear at the top of more than 80% of search results pages, so SGE will undoubtedly have an impact on websites and apps whose traffic depends on searches.
“Our recommendation for businesses, institutions or individuals who manage digital platforms is to incorporate AI as part of their overall SEO strategy and to continue to focus on writing high-quality SEO-optimized content by following the tips we offer below,” says Kathleen.
Creation of thematic authority
To improve and maintain your search rankings, it is essential to establish your website as an authority on a specific topic. Creating in-depth articles on relevant subtopics and linking to them internally will increase the likelihood that your content will be used as a general source of information about AI.
Demonstrate experience and personal touch
Avoid content that sounds generic or purely AI-generated. Try to create your own voice, showcase personal experiences, and express your own opinions.
Optimize your content for EEA
Follow Google's EEAT guidelines for writing your content. The acronym EEAT stands for experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness. Google evaluates these characteristics to determine the quality of a website and its content.
Write your content in question and answer format
Since Google AI summaries are often question-based, it makes sense to write the content in question-and-answer format. You can also add FAQ (frequently asked questions) sections to your articles.
