Free WordPress templates or why freebies are expensive

Post by pappu6329 »

That WordPress has an endless number of free templates (or themes, as they are actually called) is something that anyone who knows a little about this fantastic content manager knows very well.

These templates can help you out and there are some that are of more than acceptable quality. I won't deny that.

However, I would never recommend that you use them for your business website, especially if you want to give a truly professional image (as I assume you want).

I'll tell you more: both in my projects and in those of my clients, I think it is essential denmark telegram phone numbers to use a paid (or premium) WordPress theme.

In this post I want to tell you about my experience with this type of themes and the reasons why free WordPress templates should not be a valid option for your professional activity website.

Like I think almost everyone who uses WordPress, when I was starting out when I was still discovering the world of content management systems, I was a bit too clever.

Why would I even consider paying anything when there was a repository with an almost infinite number of free WordPress templates just a mouse click away, ready to download?

Free WordPress Template Repository

We are human. We always go for the free or the cheap first…

…only to later realize our mistake and make use of that famous saying.

Cheap is expensive.

As you can guess from my words, I was no exception and I opted for a free template for that first website with WordPress.

The theme looked good: a decent design in its demo and apparently easy to configure.

Notice I used the word “apparently.”

When I was already immersed in the arduous task of leaving my website the way I wanted it based on that free template, I realized that I was investing more time than making the website from scratch and that I was constantly tweaking code.

Not to mention that I could barely configure anything from the administration panel. The configuration options were minimal or practically non-existent.

Isn't WordPress supposed to save you time and make your life easier?

Yes, it is supposed to.

And this is true if you use a WordPress theme that is suitable for the functionalities you want to implement on your website.

You can guess what these topics are… right?

Since that unfortunate experience, I promised myself that I would never make the mistake of trying to use a free WordPress theme again. At least, not for a serious, professional project.

I don't want you to make the same mistake either, spending hours and hours of your valuable time "reinventing the wheel" and only getting a poor result that is not attractive, useful or professional.

Mind you, I know I'm going to generalize and there will be people who find using a free WordPress template to be a perfectly valid solution.
