Next, we take a look at the list of Fortune 500 companies to see if HTTPS has been implemented in major global companies.
Again, for each of the company’s domains, we look at the organic rankings report, looking for “https://” at the beginning of the URL to identify whether or not it is using HTTPS.
Below you can see the percentage of Fortune 500 companies that have their domains on HTTPS, sorted by industry.
Migrate to HTTPS - Fortune 500 Companies by Industry
The Financial (70%) and Business Services (73%) sectors have the highest HTTPS adoption rates in the Fortune 500.
If your website belongs to any of these sectors and you have not yet migrated to HTTPS, you should consider it.
The sectors with the lowest percentage of HTTPS usage are Defense and Aerospace (8%) and Chemicals (9%).
If your website belongs to any of these sectors, migrating to HTTPS can be a good way to open a gap between your company and the competition.
Position and HTTPS
We then took 100,000 random keywords using SEMrush data to look for any correlation between SERP positions and HTTPS usage.
We found that almost 45% of the results in the first position use HTTP email database usa S and almost 50% of the results in the second position also use HTTPS.
Migrating to HTTPS - Organic Search Positions
There is a clear trend from this data that supports the idea that using HTTPS on a website has a strong correlation with better rankings in search results.
It seems strange that the first position has a lower usage rate than positions 2 and 3 on average, considering the rest of the downward trend on the first page.
There are likely other ranking factors more relevant than the HTTPS protocol that influence search results.
So you know, the data doesn't lie.
The HTTPS protocol definitely seems to have a direct correlation with better Google rankings.
Benefits of using HTTPS
